With their rehearsal Monday night, August 17, the Gwinnett Community Band will begin its 25th season. Since 1984 the band has played for partriotic celebrations, civic gatherings, and other events in metropolitan Atlanta and at venues as far away as Florida and Missouri. It performs about a dozen times each year. The sixty-piece concert band is made up of volunteer musicians from around the metro area, many who played in high school and college and have returned to their instrument later in life. The band does not require auditions, and is open to anyone who wants to play. Weekly rehearsals are held on Monday nignt at 7:15 in the band room at Meadowcreek High School.
GCB Opens Lilburn Daze Celebration As it has for a number of years, the Gwinnett Community Band will lead off the entertainment at Lilburn's annual Lilburn Daze Celebration. The band begins at 9 a.m. and will play a variety of concert pieces, pop medleys, and marches. The band is conducted by Ron Brooks and draws enthusiastic musicians from Gwinnett and surrounding counties. |
